Elements is a celebration of the pure bright colours of glass. The simple yet elegant forms are enhanced by wrapping layers of coloured glass trails around the piece. The soft flowing trails of colour have a quality of serendipity as they weave over the surface of the form.
About the artist
Andrew Baldwin studied at the Canberra School of Art (Australian National University). After completing these studies, Andrew went on to a more practical training in production glassblowing at JamFactory. This two year program provided Andrew with the ability to understand and master many of the advanced techniques of glassblowing. It also enabled Andrew the opportunity to study under and work with leading glass artists from Italy, Japan, the USA and Australia. After completing the program, Andrew began a career as an independent glass artist and has since exhibited widely across Europe, USA, Asia and Australia.
Andrew enjoys the challenge of complicated techniques and the thrill of crafting a really beautiful object. In deciding what to make he is either drawn to very traditional shapes in glass or objects that are inspired by the natural environment.
